The March of Time

Today the receptionist at work said, in a very pleasant way, "You remind me of my father. The way you dress, and your mannerisms. It's nice."

The sad part is that I was very pleased to hear this.

Thanksgiving on Orcas Island

We spent Thanksgviing this year on Orcas Island, up in the San Juan Islands, very near Canada. The geography of the region is such that we were actually North of a fair amount of Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
We stayed in a nice cabin on a place called West Beach with a nice view across the water of Waldron Island. We took the car ferry there and

back, which was a lot of fun, except for maybe Miranda, who had to do homework on the return trip.

Still and all, we had a mighty fine time. Roxane prepared a very nice Turkey dinner for us with a slight assist from the nice folks at Jenny-O.

Kitchen Done(?)

We are calling it a victory in the kitchen after getting the countertops and new sink in. The countertops are butcherblock from IKEA and we are being very careful with them for now to keep from scratching or staining them. As with all the pictures in this blog, clicking on it will give you a slightly larger view.

A Note About Blogging

I like to make entries in this blog because it is easy to capture a moment in just a few minutes, post a picture or whatever, and then move it. Something I don't like is that it's hosted on another web site and I would like a very slightly different format for the entries. So, I of course had to start developing my own blog software.

There are a bunch on the market already, so I'm not planning to get rich, or even for another person to use it, because I intend to not make it general purpose, but rather have it highly focused on scratching my particular itch (on the blog front).

Soooo, that means I've been spending time thinking about that instead of blogging and then I fall behind. There's August's birthday, our Thanksgiving trip to Orcas Island, the lovely snowfall we had here a few weeks ago, etc. etc. etc.

I will now proceed to ketchup, as the tomato would say.
